What is the same for every industry

Every SOC 2 report includes the Security category, which covers governance, risk assessment, access, change management, monitoring, incident response and vendor risk. The 22 Policyseed policies are written for that baseline and adjust to your answers: the data types you handle, your tools and the categories in scope. The generator’s scope question offers Security, Availability and Confidentiality; Processing Integrity and Privacy need controls and evidence beyond the policies when an auditor scopes them.

A SOC 2 report is an attestation by a CPA firm. It does not satisfy other frameworks or laws such as PCI DSS or HIPAA, although much of the evidence overlaps. Each industry page says where the overlap is and where it stops, with links to the bodies that publish each framework.

Frequently asked questions

Is SOC 2 different for each industry?
The criteria are the same for every company. What changes by industry is which Trust Services Categories customers commonly request, which other frameworks and contracts sit next to SOC 2, and which policies reviewers read most closely.
My industry is not listed. Can I still use the generator?
Yes. The 22 policies are written for small SaaS and technology companies in any sector. Select the data types and categories that match your product, and the policies adjust to them.
Is any of this legal advice?
No. These pages describe how SOC 2 relates to other frameworks and laws in general terms and link to the bodies that publish them. Whether a law or contract applies to your company is a question for your counsel.

Policyseed provides governance policy templates and AI tailoring. It is not legal advice and not a compliance guarantee. Management adopts the policies; the CPA firm performs the SOC 2 examination.
